50 YEARS FOR THE MINING INDUSTRY
50 years ago, in 1956, the production of profiles KS/KO 21 started in the Medium Rolling Mill at Huta Łabędy. At the same time an Arch Bending Department was set up, where the profiles cut into suitable lengths were bent, and then in form of arches supplied to hard coal mines. They were the first steel mine roadway supports used universally in Polish mines. In the following years the production of further types of supports: DS, MD and V (manufactured at present) began.
On the occasion of the above jubilee a conference under the honourable patronage of the Minister of Economy Mr. Grzegorz Woźniak took place in Hotel Belweder in Ustroń on 23-24 March 2006.
Participants of the conference were managers of mines and companies cooperating with Huta Łabędy S.A. Representatives of the Higher Mining Office, Central Mining Institute, Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy as well as the Silesian Technical University and the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy took also part in this conference.
